Charlie Parker
Considered one of the most influential musicians in Jazz, Charlie Parker was born in Kansas City, Kansas and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, the only child of Charles and Addie Parker. MISSION:
The Jazz Museum of Florida is a not-for-profit initiative founded in 2009. Its purpose is to celebrate Jazz, collect, document, preserve and present the rich history of Florida’s jazz heritage and its influence on the musical art form, from its early 20th century origins to its modern-day variations through permanent art/photo and artifacts exhibit, archives, recordings, audio/visual experiences, traveling exhibits, interactive cultural education programs, live musical performances and special events for children and adults.

The Jazz Museum of Florida proudly presents JAZZONIAN: an educational resource library archive whose mission is to catalog artists that have been significant participants/contributors to the history and development of Jazz in the context of music and visual arts for the purpose of preserving, advancing and celebrating this precious American Artform called Jazz!
JAZZONIAN will also become a traveling exhibit featuring works of local photographers and visual artists in the area and around the world. JAZZONIAN will be officially unveiled at the South Florida Jazz Summit on April 16th, 2011. Be there for this historic event!
